This is a razor hone because of its fineness. Almost too large for the 'average' razor hone, it is therefore a luxury to work upon. Rated at Mohs 3+, it will provide a slurry that breaks down and works very fast leaving black swarf from a wide renge of steel types.
Baby-bottom smooth, there are no inclusions. The sides and the back have hand sawn and scraped surfaces, it will sit flat on a table if you can appreciate 120 year-old rural metrics.
A tomae type from the Hachimai shiro suita layer it is super smooth with a tight granular structure.
