I have tested this Ozaki tenjyo strata awasedo stone with razors, knives, and tools. It is fast-cutting and excels with harder steels. The stone is peppered with the finest black "goma" sesame seed pattern. I feel it is best as either a fine knife stone, and for tools chisels. It can also be used as a prep stone for razors. This is a very homogenous stone. This Ozaki has one missing corner on the backside and the price is reflected as such. The top surface and all of my stones have been flattened, and the side edges of the top surface have been beveled. The missing corners is reflected in the retail price.
